Adam Gordon has been in private practice since 1993. Mr. Gordon represents clients on international trade and customs matters, and has extensive experience representing clients on legislative and regulatory affairs matters.
Mr. Gordon represents U.S. manufacturers, industries and agricultural groups in international trade matters before the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), the U.S. Court of International Trade and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. His practice focuses on antidumping and countervailing duty litigation, developing and implementing programs to detect circumvention and enforce trade orders, legislative counseling on international trade issues, and assisting clients with complex customs issues related to imports and exports. Mr. Gordon’s clients include family-owned businesses as well as Fortune 100 corporations.
Before founding The Bristol Group in 2015, Mr. Gordon was a partner at Picard, Kentz & Rowe and Wiley Rein, LLP, where he served on the Business Development Committee and the Diversity Committees. Mr. Gordon also is a Deacon, Lay Liturgist and member of the Personnel Board of the Rock Spring United Church of Christ.

Jennifer M. Smith has counseled and represented clients in various industries since she entered private practice in 2010. She has extensive experience in a wide range of international trade law matters, including antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings, customs, export controls, economic sanctions and embargoes, anti-boycott, trade adjustment assistance, and international and bilateral trade agreements and dispute resolution processes.
Mrs. Smith has represented clients before numerous agencies, including the Department of Commerce, International Trade Commission, Department of State, Department of the Treasury, Customs and Border Protection, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, and the Department of Labor.
Mrs. Smith also advises clients on implementing import and export compliance programs and assists clients in performing import and export compliance reviews and due diligence reviews for mergers and acquisitions transactions.
In April 2019, Mrs. Smith was appointed to the U.S. NAFTA Chapter 19 Roster of Panelists to hear disputes under the trade remedy laws.
Mrs. Smith frequently writes articles and speaks at conferences and on webinars regarding international trade and import/export compliance issues. She is a Co-Vice Chair of the Federal Circuit Bar Association International Trade Committee and a member of the Georgetown University Law Center International Trade Update Advisory Board.
Before entering private practice, Mrs. Smith clerked at the United States Court of International Trade for Chief Judge Jane A. Restani.
During law school, Mrs. Smith served as an Articles Editor on The Georgetown Law Journal.

Matthew E. Renkey,

Matthew Renkey has a wealth of experience in the administration of antidumping (both market and non-market economy) and countervailing duty trade remedy cases. Before joining the Bristol Group, Mr. Renkey worked for over 20 years at the U.S. Department of Commerce and was responsible for conducting all aspects of each case (calculations, writing positions, conducting on-site verification, briefing senior officials), and authored numerous official decision memoranda and Federal Register notices. The cases on which Mr. Renkey worked ran the gamut of industries, from steel, aluminum, and chemicals, to consumer products and foodstuffs.

Benjamin J. Bay,

Benjamin Bay has significant experience as a trade attorney and litigator. In the United States, he has represented numerous domestic U.S. industries and companies in antidumping and countervailing duty litigation before the Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission, as well as in appellate proceedings at the Court of International Trade and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has also advised clients on trade matters and proceedings in other jurisdictions, including the European Union, NAFTA/USMCA, and China. Furthermore, Mr. Bay has counseled and represented clients in dispute settlement proceedings at the World Trade Organization.
In addition to his litigation work, Mr. Bay has advised clients on trade policy and tariff classification matters.
Mr. Bay joined The Bristol Group from Schagrin Associates in 2023. Previously, Mr. Bay worked in the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), where he was an assistant general counsel. Prior to USTR, he was a member of the international trade practice groups at King and Spalding LLP and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, and Flom LLP.
